This one is for everyone who kept asking.
For years, one of the most requested videos has been Barry singing “I’m Hip.” Blossom Dearie made the song popular, and Barry only performed it live a couple of times. This is the first of those times.
It’s a sly, tongue-in-cheek little song about a guy trying very hard to be cool. Barry has a ball with it.
So why the wait? We held off for years, hoping the rest of this concert would turn up. We finally decided to give the people what they want.
“I’m Hip” isn’t the only reason to watch. This show catches Barry in the middle of a setlist change. Singin’ With The Big Bands had been out for about a month. A month later, the tour would be renamed Greatest Hits and Big Bands, Too in order to promote the album. You can hear it happening. “Don’t Sit Under The Apple Tree” shares the stage with “Can’t Smile Without You,” and the Musical Travelogue Medley swings from Chattanooga to New York City to Bermuda to New England.
You asked for it.
Now you are hip.

It’s “Manilow-Close-Up” – songs from the 1998 tour of the UK.
It always amazes me when I look at any of the performances on this video.
To think that there were only five...

Palm Springs Desert Art Museum GALA -...
Hi everyone,
This audio file is a very rare one.
It’s a benefit I did for the Annenberg Museum in Palm Springs.
I did it with one of the great spiritual speakers that bases out of Palm Springs. He’s very loved in the Coachella Valley.
Very smart, very experienced and so well spoken.
