Electronic Press Kits Through The Years
1991-2006
This episode is made up of a very rare group of videos. I doubt that very many people have ever seen them.
They are eleven individual EPK’s. EPK stands for Electronic Press Kit. We make an EPK as an album is being recorded. A camera crew follows me around the studio as the orchestra or band is recording the songs. Then the director sits down with me and asks me questions about that album. Sometimes my answers are placed over the video of the studio work, and sometimes the camera shoots me answering the questions looking a little off to the side of the camera – as if I’m actually answering someone sitting there.
The EPK is then sent to hundreds of TV stations around the country. The camera in their studio focuses on the newsperson asking me questions, then they cut to me answering that question and it looks as if the newsperson was actually with me, in the studio asking me those questions. Ergo – an Electronic Press Kit!
We’ve strung together eleven EPK’s as I recorded eleven albums – from Showstoppers to Greatest Songs of the 60’s.
It will give you a peek behind the scenes of making these albums.
I hope you find it interesting. And as a bonus you will be seeing a medley of my hair styles through the years!
Enjoy!
