Manilow Country Special
April 11, 2000
This hour special was an interesting and creative experience for me.
As the pop music world began to become more R&B and rap oriented, it seemed to me that melody had gone to country.
So when TNN offered me an hour long show of my own on their station, I was interested in seeing if I could re-arrange my songs so that they would feel comfortable in that genre.
After I worked on a handful of them, I felt that I could create a full hour of music and I agreed to do the show.
I was so honored that every artist that was approached said yes immediately, with enthusiasm and admiration.
The artists all picked their favorite song and we worked up each arrangement together.
As you’ll see, they are so professional that you would never in a million years know that they had never sung these songs before.
We did this show one day after we taped “Manilow Live!”. We did both of them in the same theater in Nashville.
The audience for these shows were wonderful. They were welcoming and kind to my guests and it turned out to be a great experience for all of us.
I’m happy to be able to show this one to you because it aired and disappeared, so I imagine not many people have ever seen it.
Hope you enjoy it.

It was definitely an honor and a wonderful evening.
