Hi Everyone,
Hope everyone is doing okay during the craziness we’re all going through. Most of all, I hope that everyone is being safe, staying home and following all the rules.
Well, this month’s MTV is a real Lulu.
I hadn’t ever seen this video and I was amazed at what I was seeing.
It was during the Second Annual Barry Manilow Fan Club Convention (SABMFCC!) and the audience was sensational.
It was the summer of 1985 (35 years ago!). We were outdoors in Toronto at the Kingswood Music Theatre and I decided to go all out. We called that tour the “Paradise Tour” because the “2:00AM Paradise Café” album had exploded.
But I had also just finished filming “Copacabana” the movie, so we had a whole bunch of songs from the film I wanted to show the crowd like “Aye Caramba” and “Sweet Heaven”.
And the rarest performance of all: “Who Needs To Dream”. It’s one of the only two times I’ve ever done the song live. You can tell the audience had never heard the song because there’s no recognition applause when the song starts. The song goes over great. I love moments like that.
It's a very high energy show with encore after encore.
I think you’ll really enjoy this one. Tell your friends!
I’ll see you all “When The Good Times Come Again”.
Love,
Barry

This month’s MTV is really the “Baby Barry Show”!
It’s kind of a home movie of the rehearsal for the very first show I would do in small night clubs.
I had just signed with Bell Records and had just finished making my first album. The record label wanted me out on the road promoting the album. ...
