Barry! - January 8, 1983 - Sunrise, FL

Barry's 1982 tour was mostly staged in the round. It's a great way to see a show live because everyone gets a close seat. The catch comes when you watch the playback on a single camera. You spend about half the time looking at Barry's backside. Well...maybe that's not such a bad thing.
But this night was different. This show was staged end stage, so we get the full frontal of Barry all night long.
This was shot in 1983…and it looks like it. And yet the quality doesn't matter. The energy of this crowd jumps right through the screen. Within a few minutes, you stop noticing the picture and start feeling like you're sitting in the next seat.
Then comes one of the best moments of the night. This was early in the days of Barry inviting someone up on stage to sing "Can't Smile Without You" with him. There was no internet back then, so no spoilers. For most people in that audience, it was a complete surprise. Listen to the screams when it happens. That's years of quiet desire, let loose all at once. Meeting Barry just became possible.
So settle in. Forgive the fuzz. This is a night from the middle of a crowd that was having the time of its life, and it's still pretty great to be there.
